Preventing a breakdown is always cheaper than fixing one. Scheduled maintenance done right, with the correct parts for your specific vehicle.
Book maintenanceCancún's tropical climate accelerates the degradation of virtually every fluid and filter in your vehicle. Engine oil breaks down faster in sustained high ambient temperatures. Air filters clog sooner with construction dust and unpaved road debris. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the humid Caribbean air more quickly, lowering its boiling point. Cooling system hoses soften and swell from heat cycling. Following your manufacturer's maintenance schedule is important everywhere — but in Cancún ignoring it can meaningfully shorten engine, transmission and AC system life.
At Ágil Mecánica we follow each vehicle's specific maintenance program. We don't apply a generic 5,000 km interval to every car: a BMW with a B58 engine uses LL-01 oil with a 15,000 km interval, a Toyota Corolla uses 5W-30 mineral oil with a 5,000 km interval, and a Mercedes C-Class with the M264 engine uses MB 229.6 with a flexible ASSYST-calculated interval. Getting this right is the foundation of reliable ownership.
Correct oil specification and viscosity for your engine. All other fluid levels checked and topped up. Service interval counter reset.
Engine air filter, cabin filter and fuel filter. Visual inspection and replacement when outside spec — we show you the old filter before we change it.
Spark plug inspection and replacement at manufacturer intervals. Ignition coil and wire condition check. Throttle body cleaning when needed.
Many of our customers are expats living in Cancún, snowbirds who spend extended seasons here, or tourists with vehicles. We're accustomed to working with owners who aren't fluent in Spanish, don't know the local parts suppliers and need someone they can trust with a foreign-plated or imported vehicle. We communicate in English, provide itemized invoices and explain every recommendation without pressure.
If you're not sure when your last service was done, bring the vehicle in and we'll do a full inspection and tell you exactly where it stands. We check the OBD system for stored fault codes, inspect brakes, suspension and fluids, and give you a clear picture of the vehicle's condition.
Yes. Mexican consumer law does not allow manufacturers to void a warranty solely because the service was performed at an independent shop. We use specification-equivalent parts and provide detailed invoices so your service history is properly documented.
A basic oil and filter service takes about one hour. A comprehensive service including filters, brake inspection, OBD scan and fluid checks typically takes 2 to 3 hours. We'll give you an accurate estimate when you drop off the vehicle.
Yes. Certain fluids degrade by age rather than mileage: brake fluid should be changed every two years regardless of distance, and engine oil should not sit for more than 12 months even if the mileage interval hasn't been reached. Time-based degradation is real, especially in Cancún's heat.
