Mazda specialists in Cancún

Mazda has built its reputation on the Jinba Ittai philosophy — the union of driver and vehicle — and SkyActiv technology that combines fuel efficiency with dynamic performance. Its modified Atkinson-cycle SkyActiv-G engines, SkyActiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission, and G-Vectoring Control system require specific maintenance to preserve their driving precision over the long term.

At Ágil Mecánica we service the full Mazda range: the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback with 2.0 and 2.5 SkyActiv-G engines; the popular CX-5 SUV in 2.0 and 2.5 turbo versions; the urban CX-30; the Mazda6 sedan; the MX-5 Miata sports roadster; and the three-row CX-9 large SUV. We also service the CX-50 and models with M Hybrid mild-hybrid technology.

Specialized services for Mazda

Correct oil for SkyActiv engines

Mazda's SkyActiv-G engines use an unusually high compression ratio (13:1 or 14:1 in the MX-5) that maximizes thermal efficiency. This characteristic requires 0W-20 low-viscosity oil meeting the Dexelia Ultra or equivalent Mazda specification. SkyActiv-G 2.5 turbo engines in the CX-5 and Mazda3 also accept 0W-30. Using an incorrect viscosity can affect knock control and Atkinson-cycle efficiency.

SkyActiv-Drive transmission

Mazda's SkyActiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission stands out for combining the efficiency of a CVT with the response of a conventional automatic. It requires Mazda's specific ATF FZ fluid to function correctly. A fluid change at 80,000 km is an important service that many owners overlook. We perform this service with the correct fluid and verify torque converter condition through electronic diagnostics. More on our car maintenance page.

i-Activ AWD system

Mazda's i-Activ AWD system monitors up to 27 sensors to predict when to send torque to the rear axle before traction is lost. Any anomaly in the wheel speed sensors, lateral accelerometer or brake system can affect its operation. Our complete electronic diagnostics detects faults in all these systems.

Frequently asked questions — Mazda in Cancún

How often does a Mazda need service?

Mazda recommends changing the oil every 8,000 km or 12 months. For the CX-5 2.5T and other turbo models, we recommend not exceeding 8,000 km in hot city conditions. Regular service also includes filter, brake and suspension inspection.

Can you diagnose the check engine light on my Mazda?

Yes. Our diagnostic equipment accesses all Mazda system modules: the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), SkyActiv-Drive transmission, ABS/DSC, i-Activsense system and comfort modules. We read fault codes, evaluate stored freeze frame data and determine the root cause before recommending any repair.

Do you service the MX-5 Miata?

Yes, and gladly. The MX-5 is a car that owners deeply appreciate. We follow the exact specifications of the high-compression SkyActiv-G 2.0 engine, use the correct oil, and are careful with the 6-speed manual transmission to preserve the driving experience that makes this car special.
